Nasa's space shuttle Atlantis lands safely at California's Edward Air Base after being forced to take a detour from its scheduled landing site. The craft had to be diverted from the planned Kennedy Space Centre after bad weather hit the state of Florida...Kennedy is the number one arrival site as it is easier and cheaper to get Atlantis into its hangar and ready for its next mission.

The seven crew members have been in orbit for two weeks - the bad weather extended their time in space when rain and thick cloud meant a landing approach in Florida was considered inadvisable.

Although the landing has now completed a successful mission it wasn't without its complications.
On meeting with the international space station, Russian computers crashed affecting the station's orientation and oxygen production. Atlantis helped balance things out for several days until the computers were revived.
